Step 1

Identifying the Drain Port

When you look at the back of a heat pump dryer you will find 2 ports where the drain line could possible fit. It is important that you understand the difference in these ports for proper installation of the unit.

One port is for the actual drain hose to connect to. On all LG heat pump dryers manufactured so far, this port is located to the left when facing the unit from the back. Make sure you are connecting the drain line to this port.

The other port is for factory use only and it is where they perform tests as the unit is being manufactured. This port must remain capped at all times and cap needs to be in good condition!

Below Example is from Models (WKHC252H & DLHC5502H)

Below Example is from Model (WKHC152). It looks slightly different than the example above but setup is still the same.

Step 2

Connecting Drain Hose To Dryer

Make sure the heat pump dryer drain hose is properly installed using a clamp as shown below.

It is critical that the factory test port cap remain installed. If the cap is removed the unit will leak.

Step 3

Inspect Factory Test Port Cap For Damage

Make sure the factory test port cap is installed all the way. Inspect the cap for damage. If there are any cracks or tears found on the cap, order a replacement. Failure to replace a damaged cap will lead to future leaks. Part# 3920ER3002A

Step 4

Proper Drain Installation At The Wall

1.Seat the washer drain hose all the way to the sleeve between the two connections.

2.Seat the drier drain hose all the way into the other port on the “Y” adapter until the flat ring contacts the surface of the port.

3.Insert the large output of the “Y” adapter directly into the drain as seen below.

If the drain is not installed properly at the wall, water can fill into the washing machine as the heat pump dryer is draining.

It is critical that the Y-Connector is installed correctly for both units to drain properly.

If the Y-Connection is installed upside down, as shown in the position below, then the water being pumped out by the dryer will fill over into the washer. If the customer complaint is, “My washer fills while my dryer is running”, then this likely your issue.
