Freezer door rails can wear out or become damaged over time, especially if there’s heavy frosting or physical impact. When replacing them, make sure to choose the correct model-specific parts and follow installation instructions to ensure proper alignment and smooth door operation.
Open the freezer door: Make sure the door is fully open to give enough clearance for removing the drawer and basket without damaging them.
Remove the freezer drawer and basket: Make sure all product and packages are removed from the Freezer. Lift the drawer slightly to disengage it from the tracks, then pull it out carefully. For the basket, simply lift it out once the drawer is removed.
Lift the freezer basket straight up: This motion disengages the basket from any hooks or rails holding it in place.
Pull it out to remove: Once lifted clear, pull the basket toward you carefully to avoid scratching the interior or damaging the basket.
Remove the screws, one on each side:
These screws secure the freezer door to the sliding rails, so removing them will allow the door to detach from the rail assembly. Using the #2 Phillips screwdriver turn counterclockwise to remove the screws.
Remove the freezer door.
Now holding the freezer door, pull up and out to remove the two tabs from the freezer rails.
Remove the screws holding the Rail Holder assembly to the cabinet
Factory-blown insulation expansion:
Sometimes, the insulation injected during manufacturing can expand and adhere to components, making disassembly more difficult.
Use a plastic putty knife to pry:
A non-metallic tool like a plastic putty knife helps loosen the rail assembly without scratching or damaging the appliance’s finish.
Tab located on the back or the bracket, lift to release the rails from the Rail Holder
Attach the new rail to the Rail Holder and reassemble the unit in reverse order.
