Poor Cool: Refrigerator Section (Single Evaporator Models)

Click on the Steps below to jump directly to that section:

Step 1
1
Verify the temperature in the refrigerator and freezer sections using a thermocouple.
Step 2
2
After recording temperature check to see if unit is overpacked causing airflow issues.
Step 3
3
Check that temperature sensor(s) are reading correctly.
Step 4
Step
Enter Test Mode 1 to verify fan operation, damper operation, and check for weak airflow through multiduct.
Step 5
Step
If damper is open, fan is running, and there is little to no airflow… Check return ducts for obstruction.

**NOTICE**

Wiring Colors, Connectors, and Pins will vary by model/product code. Always be sure to download and use the service manual for your specific model.

Step 1

Verify temp in fresh food and freezer, with a thermocouple. (If the Freezer is also not cooling enough you have a “no cool” issue and your troubleshooting should start there).

Step 2

After recording temperatures check airflow issues from possible overloading of the unit.

Step 3

Check the temp sensors.

Step 4

Place In test mode to verify fan operation, damper operation, and check for weak airflow.

In test mode one, you should have air flow from the freezer up to the fresh food.

Step 5

If you know you have no air flow to the fresh food area open the freezer door and check air flow again. If you now have air flow, you have a restriction in the return duct. If the restriction is ice, you may have to leave the unit unplugged and open for 24 to 48 hours.
